1 - Coffee is the world's second most-traded product after oil.

2 - Coffee was first introduced in the 15th century, and to this day it maintains its status as the second most popular beverage (after water of course), with millions of coffee drinkers worldwide. The black brew is made from ripe berries which are picked from the coffee plant, processed and dried. Once dry, these 'beans' are roasted and ground to be brewed into the coffee drink we all know and love.

3- Coffee beans are only called "beans" because of their resemblance, they're actually berries that grow on a bush. Coffee is actually the pit of the berry, which actually makes it a fruit.

4 - They say that coffee was first discovered by a goat herder in Ethiopia in the 1500s who noticed that goats became extremely energetic and didn't sleep after eating these certain berries. He shared his discovery with the local monks who made a drink from the coffee beans which helped them stay up all night and pray. Then they spread the news to others and eventually it reached the civilized world.

5 - There are two main categories of coffee: Robusta and Arabica.
Robusta coffee has a more acidic and harsh flavor with double the amount of caffeine.
Arabica is known for its delicate flavor and low acidity. It was originally cultivated on the Arabian peninsula, hence its name.

6 - Brazil produces 40% of the world's coffee. It is the largest coffee producer in the world followed by Vietnam and Colombia.
Good coffee growing conditions require high altitudes, tropical climates, and rich soil. Hawaii is the only American state that cultivates and produces coffee.

7 - Decaf coffee is not completely caffeine-free. The decaffeination process usually removes 94-98 %  of coffee. The extracted coffee is usually sold to Coca-Cola.

8 - The word " coffee" comes from the Arabic word

" qahwah".

9 - According to the International Coffee Organization,  Europe imports more coffee than the USA. Finland consumes the most coffee in the world.

10 - Around 1735, Johann Sebastian Bach composed Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht," also known as the "Coffee Cantata". In the song, a father-daughter duo has an argument about how much coffee she drinks which is the reason she doesn't have a lover. When the father gives her an ultimatum, she lies to please him. While he's out trying to find her a husband, the daughter secretly tells her potential admirers that they must let her drink coffee if they want to marry her.
