Introverts : 10 Signs to Understand and Accept Introverts

Do you feel anxious about cancelled plans and feel drained after social interactions?

Do you prefer spending your weekends alone in your pajamas rather than going out and partying with a large group?

Do you sometimes feel self-conscious and an outsider just because you constantly avoid crowds and new acquaintances?

Then you must be an INTROVERT.



In our extroverted world, which is dominated by extroverts, introverts are grown up thinking that something is wrong with them as introversion is treated as a weakness, something that should be overcome. 

Introverts are usually negatively characterized by being too quiet and shy, even antisocial while extroverts are positively defined as sociable and enthusiastic. 

Here are 10 signs to understand and to accept introverts




1 - Introverts are exhausted by social interaction and are energized by spending some alone time while extroverts are recharged by social interactions.

2 - Introverts would rather listen and think twice before they speak. Introverts express less and reflect more while extroverts express more and reflect less.

3 - Introverts hate telephone conversations. They would rather not pick up the phone and text you back with the excuse that they didn't hear you ring. They are better at expressing themselves in writing than speaking.

4 - Introverts feel lonely in a crowd, they hate small talks and enjoy one-on-one conversations and deep discussions with a like-minded person. When in a crowd, they are quiet and antisocial and may feel overwhelmed with the desire to leave and exit.

5- Introverts hate confrontation and forcing or pressing them for immediate decisions or quick answers will only make things harder. Just give them enough time to open up, listen to them when they do talk. Once they trust you, they will remain loyal to you till the end.

6 - Introverts recharge only when alone and they are at peace with themselves. Their desire for solitude is a necessity for the sanity of their mental health and happiness. Just respect their privacy and give them the desired time to sit back to observe and reflect.

7 - Introverts are never bored when alone. They are passionate about their hobbies and spend their alone time for studying or creating something. They will work hardest when they are alone but if someone pushes them out of their comfort zone, they feel irritated and upset.

8 - Introverts will hardly ever turn for help when they are feeling down. However, just because they don't share their feelings and keep them to themselves, it doesn't mean they don't have any. On the contrary, introverts are very sensitive and deep in their emotions and they have a quick eye to see and feel what really is happening or what someone is feeling.

9 - Introverts hate anything unplanned or quick unexpected changes. They need to make lists and plan all the details and all the steps to feel comfortable and at ease. Any sudden alterations may leave them stressed and irritated.

10 - Introverts only have a small group of close friends but they never feel lonely and are quite content and satisfied with it. They act very open and cheerfully with their friends so other people may think that they are fake and rude as they don't behave the same way with others. This is another misunderstanding.

If yes, you should never think that something is wrong with introverts or it is a personality flaw. 
All you need to do is to recognize their personality traits, understand and accept them and find ways to recharge and embrace their unique needs.

  2. I think people do recognise this, usually. The inrovert also needs to remember how they impact on their friends - how the no show affects others, and make sure they turn up for their friends as support in a crises. It needs to work both ways. I have a number of friends that no show, so I always just make sure there are three of us doing any said activity - then they can no show but it doesn't impact us.

  3. I am an ambivert but most of the things on list make me realize I am much more introverted than extroverted. I have a close friend who is a major Introvert. In fact, she had to go to a military family gathering the other night to support her husband (he's Army) and she was texting me and someone else about how exhausted she was just being there. She said by the time she got back home she was so tired she just crashed on the couch. She was completely drained from the event. I felt for her because I know how hard it is for her to do those social events. My oldest is an introvert as well so I'm very familiar with the signs and I wish more people understood we just need our alone time to recharge. It's not rudeness, it's a necessity for our sanity.     1. Most of the times I would cancel big gatherings or find excuses not to attend,but when I do go I hate to be forced to stay when I want to leave.
