5 Things I have learned from Blogging

If you have just kicked off your blogging journey in the fast-developing blogging world you must undoubtedly be excited and yet overwhelmed to make your blog a success.

And it doesn't matter if you're planning to turn your blog into a business or you're just blogging from an urge to share with your knowledge and creativity.

There is no magic elevator to success, you have to take the stairs, but still, you just want to avoid some common mistakes of new bloggers and learn about some lessons from the experience of those who have been there and who have done that.

I have owned this little blog of mine since 2013, way before blogging was considered a profession or a full-time job.

Firstly, it was just a desire to share with the photos I took daily with my new semi-pro camera without having my relatives and acquaintances unfriend or block me on Facebook.

I was looking for a space to share with my creativity and connect with people with similar interests and hobbies so My blog, coffee and camera! was born to unite my  3 biggest obsessions.

I would mostly post photos and join Wordless Wednesday Linky. But I was not active and would only work on my teaching blog which was rather a  success.

When I started seriously thinking of reviving my lifestyle blog, the social media was not the same as before, there were lots of changes in the algorithms and it became a challenge to gain followers and engagement.

I have been blogging long enough to take a look back now and list 5 lessons I have learned from Blogging so far.

1. Anyone can write

I used to be someone who hated essays and would skip a class just to avoid handing an essay.
As an introvert, I was always self-conscious to speak about my inner world and I thought I would never be competent in writing.

My posts used to be a bunch of photos with a short caption or without. Nowadays I am thrilled to just sit down and put
down my thoughts as I feel more confident in my abilities.

Anyone can write if you just believe and make the efforts.

2.  Love it and be passionate about it

Most of the times, people blog after their real-time work and they spend not any fewer efforts on it. Unless you enjoy doing it, you will soon give up when you face the daily obstacles: writers' block, unengaged followers, not enough feedback.

Don't hesitate to change your niche if you find a new interest. Many times you discover yourself as you start doing something and it's ok to experiment and change your steer. Just do it with love and will find your audience.

3. Engage with other bloggers

The first genuine support you'll get will be from your fellow bloggers. Like, follow and comment on your favorite bloggers, engage and you will get the same back.

Bloggers' block is real, but if you keep reading other bloggers and engaging and interacting with them, you will
hardly ever run out of blogging ideas.

4. Numbers are not everything

In reality, they don't matter a lot. Choose quality over quantity.

Social Media algorithms have become very irritating these days and it has become a challenge to reach your audience through your posts without having to pay a certain amount of money. But in reality, numbers are nothing if your followers don't engage and interact. Never underestimate the support of fellow bloggers. Engage and interact first if you want to receive the same.

5. Be patient

Success comes when you least expect it. I remember abandoning my Facebook page for years and then discovering I had more than 10.000 likes on it.

There will be days, weeks and months that you will work hard writing and promoting your blog with poor results.

But there will be a day when you will find out that one of your Pins has gone viral and you will get regular traffic and blog visitors.

Blogging is fun and I really enjoy it.

Yet, it is not easy and no successful blogger has done it overnight.
It needs perseverance and determination to not give up and keep going no matter how hopeless and discouraged you may feel.

Just grab the pen and write about something genuine. Create good content, combine it with good visuals and never give up as one day you will wake up and see that your hard work has paid off.

S.M.A.R.T Goals for April

April is here and it's high time to set new S.M.A.R.T Goals.

If you haven't heard of S.M.A.R.T goals strategy, let me introduce you briefly.

The S.M.A.R.T goal strategy is a more effective method of setting goals as it makes it easier to set, adjust and monitor success.

The idea is to set more S-pecific, M-easurable, A-chievable, R-ealistic, T-imely goals instead of some vague and broad goals.

You can head to Witte's World Blog for a more detailed information on S.M.A.R.T Goals and you can even download a free S.M.A.R.T Goals Worksheet.

I am rather satisfied to announce that I almost accomplished every goal I made in March.

But one of the best accomplishments of March was Twitter.

I was always skeptical of Twitter but I was amazed to find out how genuine the Twitter community really are.

On Twitter you don't have those annoying follow-unfollows, fake accounts and the irritating algorithm of Facebook and Instagram. Just imagine that the posts of my Teaching Blog with more than 17K likes on Facebook reach an average of 100 peopleIt's just unfair.

Blogging

1- Upload my first video on my YouTube channel by the end of April

It's the 3rd month I am setting this goal with a failure.
I hope this month I will accomplish it as I already know what it is going to be about.
I am going to travel to a new country so my video will probably be a slideshow of my photos from there.

Personal

1- I will post more photography and travel posts in April

As I mentioned above, I am planning to travel.
So I am determined to take more photos.
Get ready for some Wordless Wednesday posts and some Travel Blog Posts.

2 - I will set a weekend Hair Care Routine

I am proud to be keeping up with my face care routine.
I am planning to purchase some natural hair treatment essentials: oils, masks and do a weekly hair treatment.

The best part of S.M.A.R.T Goals strategy is that it can be used in any sphere of your life-work, home life, teaching or blogging.

S.M.A.R.T. Goals for March

February was a quick month that passed by like a glimpse.

I am ashamed to confess that I was not that productive in February and failed to accomplish most of my February goals.

However, there were a few positive things on my blog that I'd like to write down: some recording pageviews a few times during this month plus a few blog posts I had long been planning to publish.

It's already March and time for setting new S.M.A.R.T Goals.
If you haven't heard of S.M.A.R.T goals strategy, let me give you a brief introduction.

The S.M.A.R.T goal strategy is a more effective method of setting goals as it makes it easier to set, adjust and monitor success.

The idea is to set more S-pecific, M-easurable, A-chievable, R-ealistic, T-imely goals instead of some vague and broad goals.

My March S.M.A.R.T. Goals

Blogging

1- 100 /100 /100
I want to reach 100 Facebook Likes, 100 Instagram followers, and 100 Twitter Followers by the end of March.

2- I want to upload my first video on my YouTube channel and I want to plan on a monthly e-mail format to be sent to my email subscribers.

Personal

1- I will start to practice Minimalism (You can check my blog post about My 5 Reasons to Start Minimalism).

It's been for a while I've been thinking of starting the journey of Minimalism.
To me, minimalism is about simplifying my life by getting rid of items that add no value to my life and "spark no joy" as Marie Kondo would say.
It is about living with less clutter in my mind and in my surrounding.

And I feel like I am ready to start this journey of Minimalism.

In March I will take small steps at a time and I will try to

. declutter all the toys in our house

. go shopping only when I need something

. replace things instead of adding

. try to give away without adding

. make justified and reasonable purchases

The best part of S.M.A.R.T Goals strategy is that it can be used in any sphere of your life-work, home life, teaching or blogging.

If you like the idea, set your S.M.A.R.T goals and share them in the comments below.

5 Valentine's Day Blog Posts You Should Read

I have more than once mentioned the importance of connection and engagement between fellow bloggers. Blogging is not only about writing, it is also about reading and learning. A good amount of my blogging time is spent on reading blog posts and reciprocating on the beautiful pieces that really touch and uplift me.

Today I would like to share with 5 of my current favorite bloggers and their Valentine's Day posts I really enjoyed reading and you should read.
Head over and give them some love as they do deserve it.

1- Witte's World Blog

Linda stands behind the amazing Facebook Group "For the Love of Blogging" and the monthly blogging challenges that gave me the motivation and the boost to start writing. I am so thankful to her for her daily creative challenges and the support and help she provides both inside the group and individually.
You should definitely check out her February Love Challenge.

Valentine's Day Post - Romantic Movie Review - Charlie St. Cloud

You can't help falling in love with Lana's writing style from the very first line of her any blog post. No matter what she writes about, she catches the reader's attention from the first till the last word. She's very consistent in blogging and is someone you can look up to learn some dedication and perseverance.

You should definitely check out her weekly series #MotivationalMonday

Leah from An Adventure is Calling is a travel blogger who loves to explore the world (near and far) together with her husband and her little daughter and shares with her adventures and travel tips and tricks.
What I love most about her blog is that they are a minimialist couple and try to avoid tangible gifts and put money aside for their adventures and getaways.

If you are into books and reading and love to escape to other worlds and being immersed into other people's stories, you should definitely check out Haidi from The Caffeinated Bibliophile. She shares her passion for reading and writing she's had since her childhood in her blog.
Head to The Caffeinated Bibliophile to read book reviews, book recommendations and all things books.

Valentine's Day Post - What to Read for Valentine's Day

I came across Amanda's blog on Pinterest and her story immediately caught my eye. She is a single homeschooling, blogging and adventuring mom of 6 blessings. She blogs about her adventures and chaos through life's joys and challenges and shows how one can live life to the fullest embracing the gift of each new day.

What I love about her mindset is that still heart-broken, she decided to turn her energy towards raising her children to rebuild their trust in people and promises so that one day they can again believe that not everyone they love will leave them.

Have you read any amazing Valentine's Day posts?

Would you like to show them some love and support?

This post was inspired by The February Love Challenge hosted by Linda Jean from Witte's World Blog.

January 31 - S.M.A.R.T Goals for February

January 30 -/31 Write a review of how your January went...did you reach your life/health/work/blog goals? Do you need to move goals to next month?
Create your S.M.A.R.T goals for February.

January was a tough year but we made it". I read it somewhere today.
And it was indeed a long month with lots of chilly, gloomy days, after-vacation melancholy and low spirits. This even made me come up with my blog post " 5 Ways to Beat the Winter Blues".

Instead of making New Year's resolutions, on January 1 I pursued the S.M.A.R.T goals strategy.

If you have never heard of S.M.A.R.T goals, check out my blog post " S.M.A.R.T Goals for January" or head to Witte's World Blog where you can even download a free S.M.A.R.T Goals worksheet.

But at the beginning of January I came up with another plan.
I still kept my goals S.M.A.R.T but decided to focus on 1 blogging and 1 personal goal.
You can check out My January Goals.

My January Goals

Blogging

.To keep up with the January Mind, Body and Writing Challenge.
Done, I didn't post daily but I had 17 posts in January and it is not bad.

. Open Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts for my blog.
Done, I even went further and also opened a Pinterest account.

Personal

.To read one book.
Done, it is an amazing book of poems I was surprised to be given as a gift and I can't wait to share with its stupendous content in the near future.

.To keep up with my hair and skin care routine.
Done, I did take my hair vitamins daily and gave my skin evening care before going to sleep.

My February Goals

Blogging - I will learn how to manage my email subscribers, I will send a monthly email to them by February 28, 2019.
I will upload my first Vlog or any video on my YouTube channel.

Personal - I will read and finish 1 book by the end of February.
I will take care of my mental health by taking Omega 3 supplements, getting enough light during the day, watching my steps and getting a good night's sleep.

The best part of S.M.A.R.T Goals strategy is that it can be used in any sphere of your life-work, home life, teaching or blogging.
If you like the idea, set your S.M.A.R.T goals and share them in the comments below.

January 18 - Friday Favorites. 5 Favorite Blog Posts

Day 18 - Friday Favorites. Create a post on your favorite blogs/articles from the week linking back to them.

Reading daily interesting and engaging blog posts in the same niche or not only has become one of my favorite pastimes as a blogger.

Blogging is not only about sharing with your knowledge and insights, it's more about learning. Some blog posts inspire and lift us up, others provide us with lots of information. There is always something to learn and discover.

Though our family members do follow us and like diligently anything we post on social media, but they hardly get what really is going on in the blogging world. The support and the community of our blogging buddies is as important as the feedback of our readers and audience.

I am especially looking forward to the daily posts of my fellow bloggers who participate in the January Blogging Challenge hosted by our amazing Linda Jean from Witte's World Blog.

I have even created a board on Pinterest named BLOG READING LIST where I pin my favorite blog posts that I would like to reread and go back to.

I would like to share with my favorite blog posts from this week. Some of them were published much earlier but I only stumbled upon them this week.

Hope you will find them as useful and engaging as I did.

Have a good read!
